Summary[]

While Ellen and Nanase were walking to Salty Crackers Comics, Ellen said that she should start reading comics as she didn't want to visit the comic shop without buying anything.[2]

At the comic shop George thought about his suspicion that Ellen is Elliot[3] He also thought about how he saw Cheerleadra coming from the back room of the shop after Elliot had entered and was annoyed that Elliot's friends, especially Justin, refused to confirm that Elliot is Cheerleadra and tell him what they know about magic.[4] He believed that Elliot and Ellen are the same person since Nanase used to date Elliot and now dates Ellen, he had never seen Elliot and Ellen together, Ellen is friends with all of Elliot's friends, and Ellen is more confident than Elliot (which could be expained by coming out a transgender). However, he wouldn't confront them about it since he didn't want to confront them about being trans.[5] While he was thinking, Nanase asked George why he was working and George explained that he was watching the counter while Justin was away getting food.[6] George thought about the evidence that Nanase has magic but didn't ask her about it since he found her intimidating.[7]

When Ellen was looking for comics to buy, she saw many different Batman comics.[8] Rich and Larry saw her looking for comics and Larry decided to offer help and explained to Rich that he wasn't looking for dating her so she might as well be a man.[9] When Larry approached Ellen to offer help, Ellen thought about the possibility that he was hitting on her but didn't find any warning signs.[10] When Ellen told Larry that she was looking for comics to read, he admitted that he didn't have much experience with comics, though he had watched many superhero movies and TV shows.[11] Rich was confused about Larry's success at talking to women and considered thinking of Ellen as a tomboy.[12] When Ellen told Larry that she felt guilty about hanging out at the comic shop without buying anything, Justin tried to sell her an expensive piece of anime merchandise.[13]

Rich approached Ellen to offer to teach her card games and Ellen suspected him of hitting on her as he blushed and boasted about his ability..[14] Thus Ellen said that card games are too complicated for her, which caused Rich to se her as a ditz and think of how he prefers nerd girls who can beat him at games.[15]

Then Ellen found a roleplaying game and mentioned that she used to run an older version of that game as a game master. Rich was surprised and assumed that she was an incompetent game master. Ellen thought of the fact that it was Elliot, not herself, who ran the game with Tedd and Sarah but decided to buy it.[16] Rich explained his confusion that Ellen could run roleplaying games but found card games too complicated. Ellen said that roleplaying games are easy and Rich imagined her slapping him.[17] Rich thought about his experience of the players mocking him for having to look up rules, shaming him for acting a female NPC, and ignoring the story. He said to Ellen that game-mastering is hard.[18] A rational part of Ellen's mind realized that it was easier for her than it could have been since she, Tedd and Sarah simplified the rules because they were playing casually and that she should deescalate the argument with Rich by clarifying this, but she was too angry so she just continued insisting that it was easy.[19]

Ellen decided to run a campaign immediately as a challenge.[20] Larry expressed his displeasure with Rich but didn't say more than "Dude!" and Rich insisted that Ellen had insulted all game masters.[21] Ellen told Justin that she regretted agreeing to run the game without having more time to learn it.[22] George offered to help Ellen with the rules[23] as he had listened a podcast about the game. Nanase was nervous about playing the game.[24]
