Tedd Video Game Opinions is the fifty-second storyline in EGS:NP. It started with the EGS:NP Comic for 2021-05-04 and ended with the EGS:NP Comic for 2021-08-28.

It shows Tedd and her friends talking about what they would like to see in video games.

Summary[]

The storyline started with narration announcing the premise of the storyline.[1] Tedd started by noting that some of the acts by the player character described shouldn't be done in real life.[2]

Tedd would like games to give the option to change gender during the game.[3] She likes sex change transformations in games.[4] However, she doesn't like it when the game changes the player character's sex without the player's consent if the player made the character but premade characters and NPCs are a different matter.[5]

Tedd doesn't like it if video game transformation effects deal damage.[6]

She wants video games to have stylized graphics if they are violent.[7]

Diane wants romance options to be available to regardless of the player character's gender.[8] She acknowledged the possibility that the character's sexuality is important to the story as an exception.[9] In response to debate among readers, Writer's Block acknowledged on Dan's behalf that there are good arguments both for and against Diane's opinion.[10]

Sarah wants video games to avoid using spiders for the sake of arachnophobic players.[11] Diane suggested that spiders in video games could help reduce the fear of spiders but Sarah said that spiders as scary enemies wouldn't help and that exposure therapy should be done by experts.[12]

Grace doesn't like having to fight dogs in video games.[13]

Susan asked why Tedd no longer wore lipstick and only one necklace, unlike in the beginning of the storyline, and Tedd made a joke about cutscenes showing players with equipment not shown outside them and mentioned that she likes it when cutscenes show equipped items.[14]

Tedd wants status effects that work in convoluted ways involving transformation.[15]

Tedd suggested that video games should allow the player character to transform for discounts in shops and for disguise after being banned for theft. The visuals for the latter suggestion showed Tedd disguised as Sarah,[16] which made Sarah cross. Tedd also suggested that games should allow the player character to use mind control magic to get discounts and for speech checks.[17]

Tedd suggested that video games should allow the player character to transform NPCs into bears to make them attack other NPCs.[18] She noted that the possibility of the bear attacking the player character might help the game balance.[19] Then she suggested potential uses of the player character transforming and the drawbacks balancing them.[20]

Then Tedd talked about using outfits for disguise in video games. She said that it breaks immersion if NPCs are not hostile if the player character is disguised as their enemy.[21] Then she talked about magical disguises and suggested that transformation should differ from illusion magic by powerful NPCs being able to see trough illusions.[22] She suggested that disguising as an NPC should required scanning them with a spell. Sarah suggested that it should instead require their blood.[23]

Tedd suggested that status effects on characters should be reflected by their looks, including making them fat for speed debuffs.[24] Susan objected to making characters fat to represent slowing them and suggested icy visuals or a turtle shell as alternatives.[25] Tedd said that turtle forms would be too technically difficult but suggested transforming the character's clothes into a turtle shell worn as armor instead.[26] Then she suggested other animal-themed costumes that would change a character's abilities, including a goose outfit with a honk attack.[27] In response to readers objecting to the goose outfit making the character unable to attack normally, Tedd clarified that the honking sockpuppets would block use of hands.[28] Then she showed a goose form.[29]

Tedd said that being overpowered in video games is boring.[30]

Tedd, who by this point had almost run out of opinions and suggestions, said that she doesn't like nudity in video games since she doesn't like the contexts in which it appears and it makes it awkward to be seen playing the games and to share screenshots.[31] She suggested that nudity should be optional. Then she let other characters take over.[32]

Sarah talked about how to tell her and Diane apart.[33]

Diane would like to have an option to skip combat scenes in video games.[34] Diane then acted out resposnses to her opinions with her hands.[35]

Susan has no objection to video games showing female characters in skimpy outfits as long as the tone is silly.[36]

Sarah said that she wants games to have a camera mode and talked at length about what she wants to be able to do with it.[37]

Susan complained about medieval fantasy games showing dirty clothes and pointed out that it isn't historically accurate.[38]

Sarah dislikes it when video games restrict abilities based on the player character's alignment as it forces the player to do things they may not want to do to access evil abilities.[39]

Elliot was asked to give their video game opinions but the only thing they could come up with was "I like video games that are good".[40]

Ellen likes games that are unbalanced and where random chance has an impact since they give her a chance against Grace.[41]

Sam said that he likes games with choices that actually matters and complained about games with only the illusion of choice.[42]

Grace dislikes faction systems where all factions are evil.[43] She complained about a group who drink blood in Fallout 3 not making sense.[44]

Justin complained about video games with rewards that require the player to play every day.[45]

Jay tried to ask Grace to be her friend and introduce her to her girlfriend. Grace pointed out that Tedd was already there and Jay realized that the storyline isn't canon.[46] Then Tedd declared the end of the storyline.[47]
