Fantasy Wasteland is the forty seventh storyline in EGS:NP. It started with the EGS:NP Comic for 2019-04-08 and ended with the EGS:NP Comic for 2019-06-21.

It's another game parody with Grace in main role, this time making fun of several open world RPGs like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skryrim, Fallout 3, and Fallout 1.

Summary[]

In the beginning of the storyline Grace was introduced to the premise of the video game: it's post-apocalyptic fantasy game and the player character, who is called the lone dragon slayer, is on a quest for an amulet of water purification.[1] She was sent alone because those who sent her were concerned about her potential companions being corrupted by the outside society.[2]

She saw a giant firebreathing roach[3] and used the spell chill to make the roach non-aggressive while she walked past it.[4] When the spell wore off she ran away as fast as she could.[5]

While the lone dragon slayer was fleeing from the giant roach she bumped into a group of raider bandits.[6] The raider bandits fled from her since unarmed squirrel girls get bonus claw damage.[7] Grace read a game manual which confirmed the bonus damage and also mentioned that it stacks with the bonus from gauntlets. Grace noted that this doesn't make sense as the gauntlets would cover the claws.[8]

Then she entered a town that was abandoned except skeletons. She didn't want to fight the skeletons because it felt mean.[9] A skeleton thanked her for showing mercy and offered advice.[10] The skeleton told her that the closest settlement was inhabited by orcs.[11]

When she approached the orc settlement her compass marked them as enemies before she met them, which annoyed her. When the orcs indeed turned out to be hostile she fled[12] and avoided them by hiding.[13] Grace got lost while fleeing from the orcs and complained about it to Sarah. She didn't want to use the quest markers or the map because they were immersion-breaking[14] but reluctantly used the map.[15]

When the lone dragon slayer arrived at another settlement a town crier and bard who looked like Carol was trying to enter but was banned from entering because of her loud bell.[16] The lone dragon slayer asked to enter and mentioned her quest for the water purification amulet but wasn't allowed because she didn't have any gold to pay for the amulet.[17] She was instead asked to go on a quest to kill a giant mutant skunk.[18] She asked if it was possible to negotiate a peace treaty instead but was told that she had to kill it.[19]

When the lone dragon slayer left, the bard asked to join her in order to be able to tell her story.[20] they found that they were both better at empowering by charm magic than fighting themselves.[21] The bard gave the lone dragon slayer the nickname "Green" and suggested that they take equipment from raider bandits. The lone dragon slayer had moral scruples about raiding raider bandits[22] but they did attack a raider bandit camp and took equipment from them.[23]

When the bard tried on a pair of gauntlets and a pair of boots that they had taken, she stripped to her underwear since the clothing slot mechanics made armor incompatible with her default outfit.[23] Grace was happy about the bard not being bothered by nudity and when Sarah asked her about the bard's clothes, she answered "She is a free spirit".[24] Sarah asked if she would need armor and Grace, after researching the question, equipped the bard with torso armor.[25] When the lone dragon slayer put on armor of her own it changed to fit her.[26]

In an intermission Susan talked about a sudden urge to criticize something.[26] In response to readers thinking she was male in that panel because her breasts weren't obvious enough, she clarified that she wasn't.[27]

The bard told the lone dragon slayer that they should see the giant skunk before leveling up further since enemies grow stronger when the player characters level up before having seen them but stop when the player characters see them.[28] The skunk was intimidatingly huge.[29] Grace decided to use her persuasion skill to plead to be allowed to enter the town, so the lone dragon slayer and the bard were let in.[30] The game counted the quest as completed even though they hadn't killed the giant skunk and Grace complained that it doesn't make sense.[31]

The lone dragon slayer and the bard stripped to the underwear because they didn't need armor in the town but NPCs complained about the lone dragon slayer's lack of clothing and the bard agreed, which made Grace feel betrayed.[32] Later Grace ragequit the game because the NPCs had a double standard on nudity. When she complained to Tedd she realized that they had a reason to be mean to her since she had stolen their equipment to level up her pickpocketing skill.[33]
